Goran Dragic may not be the only 'Dragon' on the Sun's roster next season, because his little brother Zoran Dragic is putting together a great FIBA World Cup for Slovenia, and according to reports, Phoenix loves watching the two 'Dragons' play together.
While Goran is averaging 16.5 points a game and 4.3 assist per game, on 58.8 percent shooting, his brother Zoran Dragic is not far behind, with 13.5 points a game on 53 percent shooting. Also, Zoran is dropping 45 percent of his three point attempts, that's a bit better than big brother Goran. The tandem dragons has given Slovenia an offense to be feared.
According to Marc Stein, Sources in Spain this weekend report that the Phoenix Suns are indeed among the three NBA teams expressing the most serious interest in signing Goran Dragic's younger brother Zoran.
"And signing Zoran after this World Cup, sources say, is indeed an option Phoenix is pursuing, which would be a move that offers potential short- and long-term benefits for the Suns in their fight to hold onto Goran Dragic with unrestricted free agency looming for The Dragon in July 2015," Stein writes.
Not only would this move help the Suns keep Goran probably, but due to the uncomfortable nature of the Eric Bledsoe situation, this would give the Suns a little peace of mind. If Bledsoe signs the qualifying offer that the Suns have put forth, many expect Bledsoe to bolt to another team as soon as the season is over.
According to the report, Zoran Dragic can get out of his contract with Spanish side Unicaja Malaga, although he is going to have to pay some of the buyout as it is larger than NBA teams are allowed to pitch in.
After his play in this tournament, there is little doubt the Suns won't be the only NBA team that will come calling, but Phoenix has the chips in place and strong motivation to get a deal done.
