All three next-gen Grand Theft Auto V editions may still be launching in time for the fall, despite rumors suggesting that the release date was delayed. If this is true, GTA 5 is coming to the PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4 very soon.
Delay rumors started in late August, when HalcyonDeathSquad said that the remastered GTA V was being held back for 2015. He had apparently overheard publishers saying the game was being delayed, while at Games Con in Germany. The YouTube video publisher later recanted his statement on Monday, Aug. 1.
"I was contacted directly by someone who's gonna remain nameless, but I was assured that's as far as Rockstar was concerned the PS4 and Xbox One version will not slip. And, that's scheduled for release this autumn," he explained. Halcyon added that he was "told the new versions will be hitting this November." Even so, these claims remain yet to be verified.
Rockstar Games also denied that the GTA 5 release was delayed, during a conversation with a concerned fan on their official support site.
"Is GTA 5 for PC being delayed?" the fan had asked. "Rumors are saying it's going to be delayed, and I really want to get my hands on it! I've been waiting too long."
"I'm also looking forward to the PC release. However, this [original] release date has not changed," a Rockstar Games representative replied. The most recent release date information from Rockstar maintains that GTA 5 remastered will launch this coming fall.
GTA 5 is the latest installment of the controversial Grand Theft Auto franchise, which follows the sandbox-style of gameplay. The overall objective of the GTA-titles has remained largely untouched, and mainly involves players stealing cars, pulling off heists, and wandering around an immersive environment.
Players can also choose to find work that is either criminal or bordering on legitimate. A variety of colorful characters dominate the storyline -- ranging from crooked cops to corrupt politicians, and ruthless mob bosses to petty lowlifes.
