Jeremy Lin is one of the newest additions to the Los Angeles Lakers, but some rumors have already started circulating that include him as possible trade bait for the Phoenix Suns' Eric Bledsoe.
Last week Lin had his wax figure unveiled at Madame Tussauds in San Francisco and spoke to the media afterward about the whirlwind life of being an NBA star, and how happy he was to be in Los Angeles.
"I'm definitely excited to be in LA," Lin told Lakers Nation after his wax figure unveiling. "How I describe it, it is a fresh start. It's a breath of fresh air to be able to start somewhere new."
He said he looks forward to the experience in LA to be fun and challenging, and said he is really focused on the upcoming season.
Before being dealt to the Lakers last month, Lin's future was up in the air. The Rockets were determined to trade Lin, and the longer he remained in Houston, the more uncomfortable his time there became.
His time in Houston sounds a lot like Bledsoe's experience in Phoenix this summer.
Bledsoe has made it known he wants out in Phoenix, and the Suns are doing whatever they can to deal him. Even going so far as trying to work an eleventh hour trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love.
Contract negotiations between the Suns and Bledsoe, who is a restricted free agent, have been bad for weeks, and the team seems to be flailing around at this point to find a trade partner.
Bledsoe wants a five-year, $85 million maximum contract from the Suns, but they have only offered him a one year extension offer for $3.7 million, besides the full contract for four years at $48 million that he turned down. If Bledsoe, who has remained firm in his salary position all summer, does not get a max deal, he says he intends to sign the Suns' one-year qualifying offer for $3.7 million and become an unrestricted free agent next year.
That would be bad news for the Suns, as they would get nothing in return for him if he walks after next season.
The rumors are stirring, and most who are speculating believe that the Suns would want more than Lin for Bledsoe. The 'if' is huge here, but IF this goes down, the Lakers would have to include new draft pick Julius Randle and a future pick too, according to these so called experts.
