The LG G smartwatch is getting a facelift that will make its appearance similar to the upcoming Motorola Moto 360.
On Sunday, Aug. 24, LG released the teaser trailer for an unnamed smartwatch that will debut at IFA 2014 in September. The video sparked rumors that the South Korean firm is releasing a redesigned version of the LG G, which currently has a square shape. As such, the rumor mill has taken to calling this mystery device the LG G Watch Round.

For now, LG has not given many details regarding its redesigned G watch. In fact, the rounded device featured in the advertisement may be a mockup or prototype. There is still no official word from LG regarding the release date for the device in question.
Released back in June at around Google I/O, the original LG G uses the latest Android Wear operating system. To date, there are only two other smartwatches that uses this software - namely Samsung Gear Live and Motorola Moto 360.
All three smartwatches were unveiled at Google I/O, with the Moto 360 being more favored by the crowd. Many consumers appreciate the Moto 360's classical round face, which resembles a conventional watch. An untold number of buyers have opted to wait out for the Moto 360, even though the Gear Live and LG G have already been released.
LG's recent ad campaign suggests that it is responding to the potential popularity posed by the Moto 360, which is expected to start reaching stores in fall of this year. According to the latest speculation, Motorola may announce the Moto 360 launch date at its upcoming Sept. 4 event in Chicago.
It has been rumored, though not confirmed, that HTC is also debuting a smartwatch at IFA. Besides smartwatches, the trade show may feature the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone as well.
IFA 2014 will be held in Sept. 5 thru 10 in Berlin, Germany.
