Maria Sharapova, world's top 6th player in Women's Tennis, is scheduled to play against fellow Russian player Maria Kirilenko on Monday, August 25 at 4 p.m. PT. "She hasn't played in a while. That's what I know. But I also know we have had a lot of tough matches in the past," said Sharapova, during an interview on Saturday in New York City. "She's a very dangerous opponent, someone that's capable of playing really great tennis. She's beaten me before in her career. Yeah, I'll definitely have to be ready."
More specifically, Sharapova shared from her experience that Kirilenko makes you "hit a lot of balls," is a "great mover on the court," "uses a bit of variety in her game."
Besides talking about the upcoming match, Sharapova also talked about being a candy magnate (Sugarpova), fashion and business ventures, practice on the court in New York in preparation for the upcoming tournament, managing her ventures while competing in a tournament, challenges and passion to accomplish more besides tennis.
The 6'2'' Russian tennis player has won the five Grand Slams and is the top Russian player. She has also won the Best Female Tennis Player ESPY Award, Teen Choice Award for Choice Female Athlete.
The US Open 2014 is the last major tennis tournament of the year, and is scheduled from August 25 - September 8.
