Elementary Season 3 will see a great shift in the overall storyline, as well as adding new characters. Here is a brief rundown of what to expect when CBS airs the third season on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 10/9c.
Storyline Jumps Forward by a Year
Based on the latest information, Season 3 picks up a year after events in the previous season.
In the previous season finale, Sherlock Holmes (Johnny Lee Miller) accepts an offer to work for the British MI6 spy agency. His companion Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) moves out of Brownstone, the investigative duo's home-base. Even so, Joan will be returning in the third season.
Sherlock's brother Mycroft (Rhys Ifans) fakes his own death, and goes into hiding under NSA protective custody. It remains to be seen if the older Holmes will appear later in Season 3, though it seems unlikely.
Addiction is a topic that is explored to great lengths on the show. For the first two seasons, Sherlock pretty much has his heroin addiction under control. However, Mycroft and Watson's departure sends him into a downward emotional spiral. Near the end of the finale, Sherlock puts a small packet of heroin in his pocket. Will he have a relapse?
Flash forward to a year, Sherlock returns to New York where he runs into former partner Watson. Holmes will also reconnect with Captain Gregson (Aidan Quinn) and Marcus Bell (Jon Michael Hill) at the New York City Police Department.
