Robin Williams's daughter, Zelda, has quit Twitter and Instagram following attacks by internet trolls on her social media accounts.
On Monday, Aug. 11, respected actor-comedian Robin Williams was found hanging by his belt in an apparent suicide. Later that evening, Zelda left a heartfelt tribute to her departed father over the internet. She shared a quote from Antoine De Saint-Exupery's novella The Little Prince.
"You - you alone will have the stars as no one else has them... In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing.
"And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night... You - only you - will have the stars that can laugh."
The majority of responses were positive. Still, a few anonymous individuals sent her crudely Photoshopped images of her father's corpse, while others left offensive messages. Although most of the trolls were eventually banned, they simply created new accounts. On Tuesday, Aug. 12, Zelda announced her decision to leave social media.

"I'm sorry. I should've risen above," the 25-year-old actress tweeted. "Deleting this from my devices for a good long time, maybe forever. Time will tell. Goodbye."
The actress left a similar message on Instagram along with a photo of a buttery.
"I will be leaving this account for a [sic] but while I heal and decide if I'll be deleting it or not. In this difficult time, please try to be respectful of the accounts of myself, my family and my friends," the actress said.
Zelda also left a few words for those who accused her of posting too few images of her father.
"Mining our accounts for photos of dad, or judging me on the number of them is cruel and unnecessary. There are a couple throughout, but the real private moments I shared with him were precious, quiet, and believe it or not, not full of photos or 'selfies'," she wrote.
"I shared him with a world where everyone was taking their photo with him, but I was lucky enough to spend time with him without cameras too."
Zelda's boyfriend, Australian actor Jackson Heywood, also broke his silence over the death of Robin William by writing on Twitter, 'Thank you everyone for your support. Every heart counts'.
Two weeks ago, Zelda celebrated her 25th birthday and Robin posted a black and white picture of them, writing, "#tbt and Happy Birthday to Ms. Zelda Rae Williams! Quarter of a century old today but always my baby girl." And it was the actor's very last Instagram post.
Robin Williams is survived by his current wife, Susan Schneider, and ex-wives from two previous marriages. Zelda is Williams' daughter from his second marriage with Marsha Garces.
