With Dragon Age: Inquisition coming this fall, a senior developer at BioWare has revealed new customization features.

During an interview with Gaming Bolt on Sunday, Aug. 10, the creative director Dragon Age: Inquisition Mike Laidlaw said that players can now decide what materials go into their weapons.

"Inquisition has crafting for weapons and armor which we've never done before," Laidlaw said. "It's kind of a material based system, so if you find iron you're going to be able to make a sword. If you find silver-rite you're gonna be able to make a much nicer sword and it will do more damage and so on."

In previous installments of Dragon Age, players wielded weapons based on their choice of character class. Later into the game, better weapons and armor can be obtained, but without the ability to customize the actual items.

Laidlaw added that in Inquisition players can decide not just how their weaponry appear, but also how the latter will perform in combat.

"Ultimately, this system is based around patterns and schematics," he explained. "This sword takes some metal and you have a selection of metals and obviously you may want to use the best one, but you might have some that are comparable and say, 'Oh no, I want the one that does extra damage to demons, etc...etc.'"

Dragon Age: Inquisition is the third game in the popular fantasy role-playing series. BioWare had initially planned to release the game on Oct.7, but eventually pushed the launch date to the Nov. 18. The game will be available on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the PC.

Bioware is also delaying the launch of Dragon Age: Keep, an app that allows player to apply decisions from the previous two Dragon Age titles to their account in Dragon Age: Inquisition. There is no official word from Bioware regarding the release date for the Dragon Age: Keep app at this time.
