In the past weeks, photos of the Xperia Z3 have begun surfacing on the web suggesting an imminent launch. Even so, such images did not offer much in terms of details apart from the general shape of the mystery device shown.
On Wednesday, Aug. 6, GSMarena posted eight images supposedly of the Xperia Z3. It is not certain whether the device featured is an actual functioning device or a mockup. Either way, the photos show a device with features similar to that of the current-generation Sony Xperia Z2.
Like the Xperia Z2, the smartphone has plastic flaps covering the microSIM and microSD cardslots, and microUSB port. Apart from these features, the smartphone in the photos has a noticeable difference with its predecessor. Namely, it has beveled-edges that appear slimmer than those on the Xperia Z2.
The mobile device also has forward-facing speakers as well as a rear-facing camera. In the image of the camera, an LED flash is clearly shown. Curiously, the megapixel of the camera is not given. This suggests the phone is not likely reflective of the final product.
Regarding specs, most information is based on rumors at this time. In July, notable tech observer EVleaks predicted that the Xperia Z3 will be powered by the quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, rated at 2.4 GHz.
There is no official word from Sony concerning the Xperia Z3 release date yet alone its existence. Officially, the Japanese company's newest flagship is the Xperia Z2. Still, this might change soon for rumors suggest Sony is unveiling the Xperia Z3 at IFA 2014 in Berlin, Germany.
