Apple may showcase the iPhone 6 at a major media event that is rumored to held this September, even though the exact details remain unknown.
On Tuesday, Aug. 5, Recode claimed that Apple is scheduling the unveiling event for Tuesday, Sept. 9. According to the report, the tech giant declined to comment when asked about the speculated event.
Previously, 9to5Mac reported that Apple was tentatively planning to introduce the iPhone 6 to consumers in mid-September. This information seems consistent with the latest Recode prediction.
It is generally believed that Apple will be releasing two version of the iPhone. One will have a 4.7-inch display while the other will have the 5.5-inch display. A number of tech observers believe that Apple will release the 4.7-inch version first ahead of the 5.5-inch version. Both smartphones are said to be running on powerful A8 processors.
Upon release, the iPhone 6 will face stiff competition from devices of rival companies such as Samsung. The South Korean tech giant has reportedly pushed forward its Galaxy Note 4 release date in response to the impending iPhone 6 launch.
When consumers will start seeing the iPhone 6 remains a mystery. In fact, the rumor mill does not share a consensus regarding the actual release date.
Some sources claim that the iPhone 6 may be ready by Sept. 19, while others such as Business Insider believe a Sept. 12 launch is more likely. MacRumors predicted an Oct. 14 release date based on leaked information from an alleged senior Apple employee.
Besides the iPhone 6, Apple maintains a veil of secrecy with other highly-anticipated products such as the iWatch, updated iPads, next-gen Macbooks, and OS X Yosemite. Just like the iPhone 6, Apple may launch these devices and software this coming fall.
