Duck Dynasty's Missy Robertson recently stated that there is "definitely" spiritual warfare coming against the family, as patriarch Phil Robertson has been heavily criticized for his comments concerning homosexuality.
"If you know anything about Phil Robertson, you know he's not going to be bullied," she told CNSNews.com. "No, he's not. He's self-assured. A lot of people thought that what he was talking about in that [GQ] interview was his own opinions. But he was quoting Scripture. He knows the Scriptures so well, he didn't need to go get the Bible and lay it out. He just started quoting. So, that's where I think people were misled, that's just coming out of his mouth as an opinion, but it wasn't."
Last year, A&E suspended Phil Robertson from the show after he called homosexuality a sin and compared it to bestiality in an interview with GQ Magazine.
"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there," he told the magazine in December. "Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men."
Robertson continued to reference 1rst Corinthians 6:9, stating, "Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers-they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right."
Despite opposition from many homosexual groups, A&E decided to reinstate Robertson after his family refused to continue filming the show without him.
"A lot of people want to keep us quiet," explained Missy.
"We're not going to be quiet, we're not going to be bullied," she continued.
However, the close-knit family wants viewers to know that they preach Biblical truths in love, and do not want to appear judgmental.
"We don't want to be looked at that way," she says. "Jesus came here, yes, with the sword to make sure that people knew right from wrong. But that's not for us to decide. God is the judge, not us.
Missy Robertson and her husband Jase started the Mia Moo Fund, which seeks to raise awareness about children born with cleft palates and cleft lips, such as their daughter Mia Robertson, who has undergone several corrective surgeries over the years. The nonprofit organization has raised thousands of dollars to fund research for causes and treatments of cleft lips and palates.
Duck Dynasty, now in its sixth season, is the highest rated reality-TV show in cable history. An average 10.5 million viewers watch the program each week.
