Netherlands will play against Brazil on Saturday for the World Cup 2014 Third Place playoffs on July 12. While to some this match may be obsolete or pointless, it may very well turn out to be as exciting as the World Cup Final match as Brazil still has something to play for if not Netherlands. The match can be watched online through free live stream below.
Coming out from a devastating blow in the semi-final loss to Germany, Brazil's coach Luiz Felipe Scolari and his squad are picking up their head and looking towards their next goal, which is the third place in World Cup. Having worked so hard and advanced so far, the Brazilian players seemed to have ran out of gas against the more coordinated German players; however, Brazil will be fighting today to restore their dignity. Netherlands vs. Brazil match will be televised on ESPN and can be watched online through free live stream below.
Scolari gave the following remarks in a press conference following the devastating defeat by Germany (translated by Daily Mail):
"It was a general breakdown. If you ask me what the breakdown, it was the coaching staff, the players, just general. Nobody understood what was going on. The German side was very skilled and very good. They made the most of their opportunities, so I'm not going to try to explain this.
I don't think my players will have any difficulties understanding that they've made errors and those errors were fatal. You asked again where we could have lost by one or two, we had a rout which we never had in our history. But the life of my players is not going to end. From now on, they will continue being the players they are. They will continue to play for Brazil and we will continue to be one of the best teams in the world. Probably 70-80 percent of these players will play for Brazil in 2018 with different experience of course.
"I know what shame is all about and it's never going to leave me, but I am going to continue with my life. My players will continue with their lives. They are still winners. Life goes on and we have another objective to achieve - third place on Saturday. We need not to expect the results that we had yesterday in terms of goals.
"We could have won and Germany could have won. Both teams have skills and abilities, but of course the result is going to go down in history, but of course since 2002 this was Brazil's first semi-final, so our work isn't so bad. We had a six minute period which was a disaster. It was not what we thought would have happened or imagined, but it happened. Now, let's organize our team for this Saturday's match, which is another important one.
"I have another dream, which is to win this competition in third place."
