'The Mentalist' Season 7 is getting a new character named Michelle Vega, whose professional manner may clash with protagonist Patrick Jane's unorthodox investigation methods.
Last Monday, a brief description of Vega was posted on TV Guide. The report described the new series regular as having "by-the-book-ways" that "will clash with Patrick Jane's style". For now, CBS has yet to confirm who will fill in for the role. Apart from the latest information from TV Guide, there are not many other details about this character.
This latest casting leak comes from TV Line critic Michael Aussielo.
"A new woman is about to enter Patrick Jane's (professional) life," Aussielo wrote. "The CBS drama is casting the series regular role of Michelle Vega, a rookie FBI agent who is a student of combat and weaponry and is unfazed by high-pressure situations (such as when the show awaited that 11th-hour renewal)."
It is unclear whether Vega and Jane's relationship will strictly remain professional.
The sixth season saw a love triangle develop between Patrick Jane, Teresa Lisbon, and Agent Marcus Pike. Teresa ultimately chooses Patrick after he confesses his love for her in the Season 6 finale.
CBS has yet to confirm a release date for 'The Mentalist' Season 7, and there is virtually no information regarding when filming will begin.
