With the CBS airing two new episodes of 'The Big Bang Theory' (TBBT) Season 8 on Sept. 22, there are rumors that the show is adding a new member to its cast lineup.
It has been rumored though not confirmed that Lisa Kudrow from 'Friends' is coming onboard as Penny's mother. Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) were engaged in the second to last episode of season 7.
Speculation started after an interview Cuoco had with TVline back in mid-June. Cuoco said that she did not know which actor will star as Penny's onscreen mother, but wanted to see Lisa Kudrow chosen for the role.
"Lisa Kudrow would be so perfect. I've said that for year. I think it would be hilarious, plus I'm a big fan of hers," Cuoco had said. "So, it's a selfish wish."
'The Big Bang Theory' fans will have an opportunity to meet the series' writers in a panel discussion at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con on July 25. Unfortunately, no cast members have been confirmed to be appearing with the panel.
Even so, there is good news for Canadian fans. Just last week, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar have been confirmed to be appearing as guests at the upcoming Edmonton Comic and Entertainment Expo in Edmonton, Canada on Sept. 26-28. They will be joined by actor J. August Richard from 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Helberg stars as Howard Wolowitz, while Nayyar is better known as Raj Koothrappali in the TV show.
The sitcom will air temporarily in the Monday 8pm EST timeslot, before returning to its previous Thursday timeslot on Oct. 30. CBS made this move in part due to its much-publicized commitment to Thursday Night NFL Football.
