Billy Graham's daughter Anne Graham Lotz is urging Christians to pray and fast-because the end times are fast approaching.
In a letter written to Christian Broadcasting Network Chairman Pat Robertson, evangelist Lotz asserts that the Lord had revealed to her that the end is near, and that she should begin a national initiative to bring people closer to Christ.
"[The Spirit] has revealed things to me in the stillness that I'm not sure I would have heard in my former busyness," the popular speaker and author writes.
"One of the things He has impressed on me is that we are living at the end of human history as we know it...Just recently, He has given me another assignment, which is to call His people in our nation to prayer," she continues.
Her husband, Dr Dan Lotz, has been battling physical illnesses, and Lotz has spent a great deal of time at home taking care of him, allowing her to "listen to the whispers of the Spirit"
"In obedience, I am blowing the trumpet...sounding the alarm...issuing a national prayer initiative entitled '777: An Urgent Call to Prayer," Lotz writes to the host of the "700 Club."
Lotz encourages God's people to pray for each of the first seven days in the seventh month - July 1-7. On July 7, she wants people to pray and fast for 7 hours. She highlights a threefold purpose for this call:
1. For God the Father to restrain, protect, and deliver His people from the evil that has come into our world.
2. For God the Son to be exalted, magnified, and glorified in His church, in our nation, and in our lives.
3. For God the Holy Spirit to fall on us in a fresh way, compelling the church to repent of sin and our nation to return to faith in the living God, resulting in a great national spiritual awakening.
Lotz said that prayers for each of the seven days will be posted on her website to unite Christians in voice and spirit, and is quick to emphasize the "Call to Prayer" is not about self-promotion.
"This is all about calling God's people need to pray before it's too late, and judgment falls on our nation," she warns.
