Clint Eastwood's son is set to star in a new Christian film, "The Perfect Wave," which focuses on the life of Pastor Ian McCormack, who grew up surfing the waters of New Zealand.
The movie, which was filmed in South Africa, Australia, Bali, Mauritius and New Zealand, is a true story starring Scott Eastwood and Rachel Hendrix, who played in the controversial anti-abortion film "October Baby."
"I have been blessed to share my story throughout the world," says the real life Ian McCormack.
"The release of this film in South Africa and now America provides a vehicle to help spread God's message of never failing love to an even broader audience."
The film follows the life of Ian (Eastwood), who, seeking adventure, sets out to surf some of the most famous waves throughout Australia, Southeast Asia and Africa in search of the "perfect wave."
During his trip, Ian falls in love with Annabelle (Hendrix) who shares his spirit of adventure. He follows her to the African island of Mauritius, where he experiences a dangerous run-in with a school of box jellyfish during an evening swim. Ian is stuck repeatedly by the jellyfish, known for their deadly venom, and pronounced dead shortly after his arrival to the hospital.
However, while dead, Ian has an out-of body experience, meeting Jesus and seeing heaven. He miraculously awakens with a new, transformed outlook on life.
According to director Bruce Macdonald, "The Perfect Wave" is a "love story with four pillars:" a mother's love, a young man's love for surfing, first love, and most importantly God's love.
"This film shares the amazing story of God's plan for Ian's life and reminds viewers that no matter how far you run, you can never outrun God's love."
Congressman Dana Rohrabacher of California calls the film "inspiring" and "beautiful."
"I'm very inspired by this film. There is a terrific spirit of adventure and an important reminder that you just have to trust god and go for it. Not to mention the film captures the beauty of some of the best surf spots in the world," she told Christian NewsWire.
Jim Young of Crossroads Church in UMC in Jacksonville, FL, says the film is perfect for all audiences.
"The Perfect Wave" is a strong witness to the redemptive power of Jesus Christ," he stated. "It is excellent for youth groups, college and career, as well as the whole family."
The film is set to open with limited release in theatres around the country on July 11 of this year. For more information, visit www.theperfectwave.com
