'Revenge' protagonist Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) may be getting new love interest in the upcoming Season Four of ABC original series.
This latest plot spoiler comes from TV Line tipster Michael Ausiello, who often reveals insider information from various television productions.
"Emily's getting a major new love interest this fall. Details are sparse," Ausiello claims in the TV Line report.
Within just three seasons, Emily has lost two of the original three men whom have loved her -- namely Aiden (Barry Sloane) and Daniel Grayson (Joshua Bowman). Joshua Grayson breaks up with Emily, and later takes over the Grayson family fortune. Aiden literally dies at the hand of Joshua's mother, Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe). Of the three male suitors, only Jack Porter (Nick Wechsler) is left.
It is quite possible that the show's producers will try to keep a love triangle going by adding a new competitor for Emily's heart. Otherwise, Emily will be stuck with Jack.
Season Three ends with Emily having more or less accomplished her dreams of clearing her father's name, and ruining the Grayson clan -- the wealthy family that caused her father David Clarke (James Tupper) to go to prison. Clarke is later murdered while behind bars, and Emily goes on a vendetta against those responsible. In actuality, Emily's real name is Amanda Clarke, but she hides under 'Emily Thorne' pseudonym to mask herself from her enemies.
David Clarke mysteriously comes back from the dead in the Season Three finale, and seemingly stabs Conrad to death. Meanwhile, Victoria has been committed to a mental institute.
The next season of 'Revenge' may see Emily emerging from the shadows, according to recent information provided by the show's executive producer Aaron Harberts during an interview with Variety earlier this month.
"This year, Emily has the opportunity to come out as Amanda Clarke ... as we get to know more about Emily/Amanda, she has to start confronting all the things she's left undone and the mess she's left behind," said Harberts in the Variety report. "How willing is she to clean up messes for all the people who've taken such good care of her?"
"In a year of Emily asking herself 'who is Amanda Clarke, how do I get back to that?' Jack's going to play such a huge component in that," Harberts explained.
In the same report, the producers raised the possibility that Victoria will somehow get herself out of the mental hospital, and will be embarking on her own path of revenge on Emily. At the same time, the older Clarke might bring havoc to the neighborhood.
"As Emily is trying to create a new, more positive life for herself, as she tries to move forward, Victoria is going to be coming up behind her," admits Harbert.
Though no premiere date was given, ABC has consistently aired the first episode of each 'Revenge' season in late September. It is likely that Revenge will be returning to its previous 10 pm timeslot on Sundays for this coming fall.
