Sony Xperia Z3 Release Date and Specs: Latest Rumor Indicates Redesigned Body

With Sony's Xperia Z3 flagship rumored to be ready by this coming fall, speculations points to a possible redesign of with the mobile device's body.

The most recent rumor points to the Xperia Z3 having bezels that are significantly slimmer than the previous Xperia Z2. One of the issues that users had with the Xperia Z2 were the large bezels situated above and below the screen display.

Other rumored aesthetic changes include a much large 5.3-inch QHD screen with a 2550 x 1440 display. It has also been said the device will be around 7mm thick.

Regarding performance, there is no general consensus about the Xperia Z3's specs. Perhaps the greatest area of contention is whether or not the Sony Xperia Z3 will come with the vaunted Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. So far, this question remains unanswered. What is generally agreed though is that the Xperia Z3 is coming with the latest version of the Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

At this time, the current Android version is the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update that just started rolling out on a number of Google Nexus devices, but has yet to reach a vast majority of handsets and wireless service providers.

Sony has already developed the reputation of releasing its major devices every 6 months. So, it is possible that the Xperia Z3 will have its launch date at around September this year - if not a bit earlier.

Then again, this is speculation and anything can happen in the months between now and the fall. Still, it is rare to see major mobile device manufacturers deviate from 'established' launch cycles. Unless there are serious issues with design or sales distribution, the Xperia Z3 should be hitting the shelves after a few short months.
