The top legislative body of the Presbyterian Church (USA) voted on Thursday to support marriage redefinition in their church constitution, adding language that marriage can be the union of ''two people'' instead of only ''a man and a woman.''
This amendment now awaits approval from a majority of the 172 regional presbyteries, which will vote on the change in the next year. In a separate policy change- which goes into effect immediately- delegates voted to allow ministers to preside at homosexual weddings in states where the marriage redefinition is legal and local congregational leaders approve.
However, the Bible makes it clear that marriage between one man and one woman is ordained of God.
"And the Lord God said, 'It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.
And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
And Adam said: 'This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.' Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" - Gen. 2:18, 21-24
Marriage is a covenant relationship between a man, a woman, and God. When we decide to marry, we must do so with an understanding that our marriage is an agreement to mutually honor God in and through the marriage.
It is impossible for homosexuals and lesbians to enter into a covenant relationship with God as a marriage because God does not recognize union between two people of the same sex as a marriage, but calls it an abomination.
"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination."- Leviticus 18:22)
There are five different words translated abomination in the Bible. The predominant meaning is, "to stink, to be loathsome, uncleanness".
The Bible also calls homosexual and lesbian behavior a "lie" and indicates that homosexual lifestyles constitute the worshiping and serving of man rather than God:
"They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator-- who is forever praised. Amen.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. (Romans 1:25-27)
In other words, so called gay marriage is a lie from Satan which compels man to worship man rather than God. It is a lie that the Presbyterian Church (USA) voted to endorse.
God has decidedly expressed, in His Word, profound disdain towards homosexual and lesbian conduct.
There is absolutely no honor in two men or two women coming together to mock the very image of God- which man was created in- by violating the sanctity of marriage as God ordained it.
Regardless of what society says and no matter how prevalent this evil abomination of homosexuality becomes in our secular world, I pray true Christians will continue to stand upon God's truth.
It is indeed only through the blessings of God can any marriage be all it ought to be. Moreover, only a marriage between one man and one woman can truly be blessed by God."
