Casting call for extras wishing to participate in Season Three of Netflix's critically-acclaimed series 'House of Cards' will be held in Maryland this coming Saturday, June 7.
On Tuesday, the Maryland Film Office posted on its online bulletin an announcement calling for extras of "all types, ages, sizes and ethnicities to be considered for union and non-union extra and day player roles."
The open audition, set up by the Kimberly Skyrme Casting agency, will start 10am thru 2pm at the Bel Air Armory, on 41 North Main Street in Bel Air, MD.
According to event organizers, SAG/AFTRA members will have a separate line. Candidates are asked to "come dressed to showcase your [Washington] DC political look." Participants will also need to bring a resume with a current headshot.
This development is an indicator that filming for 'Houses Of Cards Season Three is continuing along as scheduled. Fans of the game-changing political thriller will certainly be pleased, considering that production was delayed earlier due to tax issues, which were later resolved.
Season Two ends with the series' anti-hero protagonist Frank Underwood taking the seat of presidency, following a publicity coup resulting in President Walker's resignation.
Casualties incurred in the previous season include Frank's loyal right-hand man Doug Stamper, who suffers an apparent death at the hands of Rachel in the woods. Amongst fans there has been debate over whether Stamper really dies. Some claim that Stamper may be returning to Season Three, albeit in a comatose state.
Frank has so far gotten away with the two murders he committed -- that of Peter Russo and Zoe Barnes. At the start of Season two, Frank pushes Zoe into the path of an oncoming train when she gets close to uncovering the truth behind Russo's death. Will Frank be getting his hands dirty again in the next season, or will he lay low now that he is president of the United States? That is one thing that needs to be addressed in Season Three.
Metaphors form an important part in the show's dialogue, and Frank often speaks to the audience directly between conversations. In doing so, he reveals his innermost thoughts. The deep metaphors help simplify the show's complex themes for the simplicity-seeking audience. So, viewers should expect more metaphors and more commentary from Frank Underwood in the next season.
At this time, Netflix has yet to confirm exactly when 'House of Cards' will see its exact release date. Season One and Two of 'House of Cards' both premiered in the month of February. So, the third season may be ready within the first quarter of 2015.
Whether the show will be released by then depends entirely on the pace of production, which has barely just begun. The third season will be filmed primarily in Maryland.
