Alleged beta game footage from the Battlefield: Hardline multiplayer has been making the rounds on YouTube this week.
Featuring a view of downtown Los Angeles, the leaked trailer also reveals a dizzying array of vehicles available to the player including patrol and transport helicopters, police interceptors or motorcycles, getaway vans, sports cars, intervention SUV, and armored rescue vehicles.
Gameplay in the video reveals several modes that include Blood Money, Heist, Bomb Squad, Conquest, and Onslaught. The two factions are SWAT (short for Special Weapons and Tactics Team) and Thieves.
Just like in previous Battlefield games, players have list of different multiplayer classes to choose from. The game footage shows choices for Enforcer, Professional, Mechanic, or Operator. Depending on class, players have access to vehicles after at the spawning point.
Apparently, the game's developers Electronic Arts (EA) and Visceral Studio has not taken kindly to the recent leak, and the YouTube video has since then been removed.
This development comes a mere one week after Electronic Arts formally announced on its website that Battlefield Hardline will be released in fall 2014. At around the same time as the EA announcement, two official tweets were posted featuring awards icons and weapons renders. Game developers are building Battlefield: Hardline around the excellent Frostbite Engine.
There is still not much information regarding Visceral Studio's more recent involvement with the Battlefield series. Previously, Visceral Studio won critical-acclaim for their survival-horror Dead Space franchise.
The latest installment to the Battlefield franchise marks a grand departure from the previous modern, Vietnam, and WWII battlefields that have come to define the series. This time, players will be treated to cops-versus-robbers gameplay in Battlefield: Hardline.
As of now, neither EA nor Visceral has released an exact launch date. This information will likely be mentioned along with a formal unveiling of the game at the E3 2014 conference, which will be held at the Los Angeles Convention center from June 10-12, 2014.
