The Penguins are meeting the Rangers in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since the 2008 Eastern Conference Semifinals. Today's game kicks off the Eastern Conference Second Round of the Playoffs. The Penguins defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Rangers fended off the Philadelphia Flyers.

Pittsburgh has had three days to rest since beating Blue Jackets in the 4-3 Game 6 win on Monday. The Rangers, on the other hand, played their best game against Flyers in Game 7 on Wednesday, but it was after a defeat the night before.

Rangers' goaltender Henrik Lundqvist redeemed himself from Game 6 with a 26-save performance in Game 7. Against the Penguins, he has 2.46 goals-against average and .913 save percentage in 51 career appearances. He will attempt to play keep up the impeccable performance.

"He's the backbone of our team for a reason," defenseman Ryan McDonagh said, according to NHL.com. "He made some huge saves down the stretch. We know what he means to this team, and he knows what he means. When he's on his game he's tough to beat. When they had some time in our zone he was the backbone back there. He relaxed everybody with some big saves.

Penguins forward Brandon Sutter scored three goals in postseason and has five points in all six playoff games. Rangers forward Benoit Pouliot scored two goals, one of which sealed the fate for New York to advance towards the Second Round series. Rangers' forward Martin St. Louis and Brad Richards each have four goals.
