The Wild and Avalanche are now tied at 3-3, and each team is 3-0 on home ice. The Avalanche is looking to seal the Western Conference first round series with a win tonight with their home ice advantage.
The Wild are coming off a 5-2 win in Game 6.
"We have to be excited about this opportunity and go in there and play our best game of the series," said Wild's coach Mike Yeo. "We are going there with a real purpose in how we play that game. So it's going to be fun."
In Game 7, Colorado's forward Matt Duchene, who just returned in Game 6 from injuries to his left knee, will move up to the second line and play with Ryan O'Reilly and PA Parenteau.
In Game 4, the Wild have only nine goals in four games, but their puck-possession game has limited the Avalanche to just 12 shots on goal, which were a franchise playoff record for the Wild (fewest allowed).
Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov allowed 15 goals but saved 196 shots in the last six games. Wild's goaltenders D. Kuemper saved 106 shots but allowed 7 goals.
Colorado's defenseman Tyson Barrie was hit by Minnesota forward Matt Cooke in Game 3. Barrie was injured and sidelined and Cooke is suspended for seven games by the NHL. But prior to that, the Avalanche have partially buried the Wild after Saturday's night 4-2 win in Game 2 in Denver. Colorado's Gabriel Landeskog, Paul Stastny and Nathan MacKinnon have together caused the most damage.
In Game 1 and 2, MacKinnon scored a total of seven points. He has matched the NHL mark for the most in a player's first two career Stanley Cup Playoff games, according to NHL.com. Meanwhile, Wild forward Charlie Coyle has a goal in each game.
