Monday's night DWTS Season 18 was Latin Night with special guest judge Ricky Martin, the seven remaining couples perform one Latin dance: the Rumba, Samba, Salsa and Argentine Tango. Additionally, the competition included two Latin inspired team dances.
We heard several injury reports from last night. First, Danica McKellar fractured her rib during rehearsals, but she managed to salsa her way to the dance floor. But the most shocking news was Amy Purdy get injured after her routine was done, and she went to the hospital during the live broadcast.
In a backstage interview with Erin Andrews, Purdy explained what happened, "Right after judging, I turned my head and my back cracked and it just seized up," she said. "Everything's really painful right now. It's hard to breathe."
Purdy missed her team dance and footage from the dress rehearsal was used for her team's scores. Team Loca featured Amy and Derek, Danica and Val, Meryl and Maks and Candace and Mark. Carrie Ann called it "the tightest team dance she'd ever seen" and the judges rewarded the team with 39 out of 40 points.
Team Vida featured Charlie and Sharna, NeNe and Tony, and James and Peta. The performance was a true crowd-pleaser and the judges loved the energy, but some technical missteps earned them a total of 35, which was added to each of their individuals scores for the week.
