In Game 1, Rockets missed several opportunities to stamp out the Trail Blazers after losing the lead multiple times. The score was 120-122.

Harden scored 27 points, but missed 20 shots. He said that he wasn't really driving and attacking the rim, but will change that and become more aggressive in Game 2, according to NHL.com.

"This is a must-win for us, must-win," Harden said after the Rockets' morning shootaround, according to ESPN. "We had Game 1 under our belt, but we [made] some silly mistakes late in the fourth quarter. We're confident and ready for Game 2."

Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin, who had been out Tuesday with the flue but is ready to play today, affirmed his teammate's resolve.

"To me, [Game 2 is] a must-win," he said. "In my mind, we have to win tonight and go up to Portland [on Friday] and win another one."

While Rockets' guard Patrick Beverley limped off the court with a knee injury, an MRI on Monday showed no damage to his knee. So Rockets cleared him to play in Game 2.

The Trail Blazers' LaMarcus Aldridge scored 46 points and 18 rebounds in Game 1.

Meanwhile, the NBA ruled the foul called on Dwight Howard was a mistake, and that Howard should have gone to the line for two free throws. Instead, Portland's Joel Freeland was sent to the freethrow line  because of a referee error with 10.8 seconds left in overtime. Freeland's 2 points gave the Trail Blazers the two point win over Rockets.
