Dallas Mavericks vs. San Antonio Spurs 2014 NBA Playoffs Game 2 will begin today at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. The Spurs take the lead 1-0 in the Playoffs series, but came as a result of Dirk Nowitzki's surprising misses. He scored 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting. It was his lowest point total in the playoffs in seven years.
The explanation for Nowitzki's low performance is that Spurs defense doubled team him, forcing a turnover. Despite having a 81-71 lead, Dallas could not stop San Antonio with their 14-0 run.
"I don't think they're going to leave me much on pick-and-roll coverage all series," Nowitzki said, according to NBA.com. "I can't just sit out there and measure the wind and shoot."
In 2006, Nowitzki also scored 11 points in a Playoffs game, but he came back with 50 against Phoenix. But with age, he is unlikely to put up the same kind of offensive, but will most likely work something out with guard Monta Ellis.
