The Washington Nationals will host the St. Louis Cardinals today April 17 at 7:05 p.m. ET at the Nationals Park.
The Cardinals and Nationals are favorites to dominate the National League this season and are meeting for the first time. The Cardinals won all six matchups in this series a year ago and Adam Wainwright picked up two of those wins.
Yadier Molina had two hits and is batting .452 (14 for 31) in his last eight games for St. Louis. Though he's 4 for 14 in his last four versus Washington, he drove in six runs during that span.
Washington went 2-4 on its recent road trip and is back at Nationals Park for the next 11 games versus the Cardinals, L.A. Angels and San Diego Padres.
Despite experiencing left quad tightness, Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was in Thursday's lineup. Harper went 11 for 25 (.440) in his first six regular season games versus St. Louis (9-6), but is hitting .217 (5 for 23) during Washington's seven-game series slide in which it's totaled 12 runs.
Cardinals' fans can watch it on FSMW or MLBN and listen to radio at KMOX 1120. Nationals' fans can watch it on MASN or MLBN or listen to radio at 106.7 The Fan and WFED 1500.
