Now that Google's Android 4.4 Kitkat update is finishing up its update on all Android carriers since its launch in November of last year, the team is already hard at work updating devices to Android 4.4.2 and Android 4.4.3.
The LG Optimus G is famously the inspiration for the Nexus 4 back in November of 2012. The LG phablet may be old, but it's still being used by enough customers to warrant an upgrade to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, but only recently. LG Optimus G users have grown accustomed to slow OS updates, but this new change from Android 4.1.2 straight to Android 4.4.2 is a pleasant surprise for European customers. A U.S. upgrade date is still unknown.
AT&T customers are also getting the 4.4.2 update for the HTC One Mini and HTC One Max after all other HTC devices have previously received the patch.
This may all sound like exciting news, but when you consider that the Android 4.4.3 update is already rumored to be releasing next month, LG and HTC customers can't help but wonder how long that one will take in comparison.
The Google Nexus 5 smartphone and the Nexus 7 tablet will be the first to get the Android 4.4.3 update, as is par for the course with Google's Nexus devices. Curiously enough, the Nexus 4 is not listed to receive that update, though.
The latest version of Kitkat will offer fixes to problems introduced with 4.4.2, including bugs on the camera, keyboard, and battery life. Further advancements and improvements to the OS are also rumored to be arriving with either Android 4.5 or 5.0, with a name and feature list still in the rumor stage.
