An Amber Alert was issued Tuesday after a report of a possible carjacking and kidnapping in Oakland, California.
The Oakland Police Department said in a statement Tuesday that around 12:50p.m., officers responded to reports of the incident outside a Safeway store in the 4100 block of Redwood Road. An elderly man and 13-year-old girl were taken during a carjacking and the suspect is armed with a knife.
The Oakland Police are asking people to be on the lookout for a red 2001 Infiniti SUV QX3 with California license plate 6JFM648. Please call Oakland Police Department at 510-238-3641 if you have any information.
The suspect is described as a 35-year-old black male, who is about 5 foot 7 and 165 pounds. He is wearing a blue jacket and blue jeans.
What is an Amber alert?
An AMBER Alert is an rapid notification system to alert the public and solicit their assistance when a child has been abducted and is facing grave danger.
