Korie Robertson, wife of Duck Dynasty CEO, Willie Robertson, and her mother, Chrys Howard, have just created a five-week curriculum entitled Faith Commander: Living Five Values from the Parables of Jesus. All ages will be able to enjoy the experience provided by the curriculum.
"With the Faith Commander curriculum, we took some commonly found themes that the show Duck Dynasty actually teaches," said Korie. She goes on to say, "We use these, not in a preaching sort of way, but really the kind of way that shows how we live our lives and the way our family works. This faith is behind who we are as a family and what keeps us together and strong."
"We chose the parables of Jesus because sometimes they are not always studied like they should be," said Korie's mother, Chrys. "God put those in the Bible for us to learn from from. Willie, Phil, Alan, and, well, all the guys are great storytellers. In Faith Commander, they explain the parables as stories to bring people closer to God. We really believe that this is going to benefit the entire church family--kids, adults and teens. It's something families can all study together just like they watch the TV show together."
Set to release in May of this year, the curriculum focuses on five major themes found in the Scripture: 1) faith, 2) forgiveness, 3) obedience, 4) prayer, 5) kindness. This is another project aimed specifically at the church-going audience. Duck Commander already boasts of a Duck Commander Devotional available in pink and brown camo as well as on audio.
Each curriculum set will include a book as well as a DVD chocked full of stories from the Robertson Clan. The adult version highlights stories from Phil (patriarch), Alan (minister), Willie, Jase, Jep, and Uncle Si. In contrast, the youth version will include John Luke, Sadie, Will, Reed, and Cole Robertson (Willie and Jase's older children). There is also a five-week children's curriculum only available on DVD-ROM featuring "Willie's Redneck rodeo" which is tailored as a bonus five-day Vacation Bible school program. There are also free sermons for pastors and other promotional resources included in Faith Commander.
John Raymond, VP and Publisher for trade curriculum at HarperCollins Christian Publishing says, "The Robertsons' authentic faith and love for Jesus was evident throughout our time working with them." He goes on to say, "We had the privilege of visiting the Robertson family in West Monroe, LA, while filming Faith Commander. Their entertaining and inspirational storytelling brings the curriculum's five key themes to life."
On May 6th, the teen and adult curriculum will go on sale, while the churchwide set will be available on May 20th. It will be exciting to see what innovative ideas the Duck Dynasty Clan will come up with next!
