The new season of ABC's "The Bachelor" has officially started, and we see the first Latin Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis begins searching for his new love.
As many Bachelor fans may know, Juan Pablo has a beautiful four-year-old daughter, Camila. She was born on February 14, 2009 and is his "valentine for life". As a single father, Juan Pablo is looking for not just someone to be his wife, but also a stepmother to his daughter.
The 32-year-old bachelor admitted to host Chris Harrison that ‘it was hard to make the decision'.
‘I'm going to find hopefully the person who is going to join me and my daughter. That's what I'm looking for.' he said.
Galavis was born in Ithaca, N.Y., but grew up in Venezuela. He played professional soccer there and moved to Miami to play with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, but retired in 2008 after the birth of his daughter Camila (whose mom is an ex-girlfriend he never married.) He now works as a sports and entertainment consultant.
Juan Pablo told Extra that his daughter watched this past's Monday premiere but won't be watching anymore.
According to Juan Pablo, he and Carla Rodriguez, mother of Camila, stayed together for a couple of years, then broke up, though they are still good friends.
Carla was born in Venezuela, but now lives in Miami (as does Juan Pablo), so the pair can easily share custody of Camila. According to Carla's Twitter page, she is an actress and has done a lot of shows in Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela and the U.S. She is very involved with her daughter as we see her twitter and Instagram accounts fill with pictures of Camila.
Carla also tweeted posts and interviews about Juan Pablo's upcoming season. So we know she is all for Juan Pablo finding love and supports him being on the show.
ABC began calling the month of January "Juan-uary" in ads and aired a "Countdown to Juan Pablo" special the night before on the casting process. Last week premiere had the highest "Bachelor" ratings in three years with 8.4 million viewers tuning in, up 17 percent from last year's installment with Sean Lowe.
The Bachelor Episode 2 airs on Monday, January 13, it will feature Juan Pablo's first dates of the season. He'll have two one-on-one dates and a a group date with 13 laides. According to spoilers by Reality Steve, there will be three women going home next week.
