The English department of East Coast Ambassador for Chinese Missions Convention (CMC) experienced a historic breakthrough in 2013. Lausanne Committee on World Evangelization executive director and CEO Michael Oh, who was one of the English speakers of the Convention, expressed his gratitude for the global role of the CMC in promoting the development of Chinese churches.
The organizer, Ambassadors For Christ (AFC) said on its official website, there are over 700 people attending the English program of the Mission Convention, which is a record high. The settings of content and topic were completely dominated by the English pastors of Chinese churches, breaking the prejudice that English ministry only targeted at youths as the foundation of their ministry.
The organizers considered the rise of the English department as the highlight of the CMC East Coast 2013. At the convention, dozens of young English pastors of Chinese churches gather to discuss on topics, including "shepherding the second generation of youth in the United States, church-building, inter-generational relations within the Chinese churches and missionary opportunity in the new era."
The English ministry is built upon the steady improvement of the missionary works created by the first generation of Chinese Christian in North America. It is also needed to train the missionary force of the native Chinese believers, which is the vision of AFC. It is also a breakthrough with historic significance for its missionary works over the years.
As the first Asian executive director and CEO of Lausanne Movement, Oh positively acknowledges the contribution of the CMC to the Chinese missions, and gives thanks to God for the promotion of the CMC to the worldwide Chinese churches.
During his keynote session, Oh reported on the global church dynamics and core subjects since the Third Lausanne Conference Cape Town 2010 to the participants.
