Last month, Samsung began rolling out the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to users outside of the United States. And it has now rolled out in the United States Tuesday, bringing a number of brand new features to its users. Both Samsung and US Cellular announced the over-the-air update on their website.
U.S. Cellular announced in October that it would be rolling out Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 updates in the coming weeks. However, as the Galaxy S3 owners last month complained that the upgrade was causing some stability problems in their devices, Samsung has discontined the upgrade.
The Korean company have resumed the Android 4.3 roll-out to Galaxy S4 devices and U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note 2 this week after fixing the bugs.
The Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software is now available to those on all five of the nation's five largest carriers including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon Wireless.
So far only the Sprint Galaxy Note 2 has updated to Android 4.3 in the U.S. Other carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon haven't made any annoucements regarding the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update.
As the rollout of KitKat 4.4 is also expected to be on the way in coming few months, we don't expect the Android 4.3 update to be long lived.
According to knowyourmobile, Samsung are looking into updating some older handsets to Android 4.4 KitKat. Though it is still in the planning stages, a leaked document shows that the possible devices that may receive the 4.4 update include the Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy SIII mini, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Frame and the Galaxy Fresh.
