Production and technology solutions company Blue Scout Media plans to host "New Year's Impact," the largest faith-based global gathering ever, on New Year's Eve. Instead of watching the ball drop in Times Square this year, churches, families, and friends are encouraged to view the event online at no charge for five hours of entertainment from prominent Christian artists, speakers, and illusionist Justin Flom.
"Secular media has owned our living rooms on New Year's Eve for decades. We at Impact long to see something more than another night of empty resolutions 'trying' to become better people," says the Kickstarter event website. The live event will be broadcast from Nashville, Tennessee, and will feature ten Christian artists including Lecrae, Natalie Grant, Shane & Shane, Jeremy Camp, Tenth Avenue North, Sidewalk Prophets, and Brandon Heath. Host Mike Weaver from Big Daddy Weave will be joined by Christian illusionist Justin Flom and author David Nasser.
While the event will be free for online viewers, Blue Scout Media set up a Kickstarter fundraising event for supporters to help with a portion of the costs. "Our bill for this event is large, and we're using this Kickstarter to help raise a portion of our overall budget," says Donna Powers at Blue Scout Media. The event requires artist and venue fees, equipment and crew costs, production expenses, and online distribution costs.
