The Jays are currently 17.5 games out of first place and 11.5 games behind forth place. Injuries and starting pitching have been Toronto's downfall. Chien-Ming Wang will make a spot start Saturday -- his first outing back from Triple-A since July 2 -- trying to limit the damage and give the bullpen a break.
Wang was 1-1 with a 7.13 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 24 innings in five starts with the Blue Jays this season.
The Astros, who have the youngest team in the Majors, have been using a six-man rotation for most of the second half and will turn to Brad Peacock in the second game of their three-game set.
Peacock, 25, has a 1.86 ERA over his last three starts since a promotion from Triple-A, striking out 20 in 19 1/3 innings. Last time out, he tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings against the Angels, holding them to four hits and two walks, while striking out five.
