The Discovery Channel’s 26th annual Shark Week kicked off Sunday August 4, 2013 in the U.S. with a premiere of "Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives", which earned a 4.8 million viewers and a 2.6 rating with adults 25-54.

According to the Florida Museum of Natural History, Megalodons were the largest sharks to have ever lived, but they vanished 2 million years ago.

"Megalodon The Monster Shark Lives" tells the story of a fishing vessel that was attacked in April 2013 off of the coast of South Africa. Everyone on board was killed and a marine biologist heads out to discover what kind of shark could cause that much death and damage.

It is a fake documentary similar to Animal Planet's "Mermaids The Body Found." The experts featured in the film are actors; the real life events described in the movie are fiction or based on true events having nothing to do with a large prehistoric shark.

Throughout the week, there are all kinds of shows from Shark Weeks of the past, while bringing some incredible brand new shows, including 11 hours of new material.

Tune into Discovery Channel and watch all videos live.

Here is the Day 2 schedule, the new shows begin at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Sharkzilla: Sharktweeto, Monday 8 p.m.

Social media and Shark Week join forces in an extra dose of Megalodon. Watch as scientists begin to unearth a crime scene where the remains of a whale were found. Megalodon is believed to be responsible and specialists attempt to bring this killer shark back to life.

Return of Jaws, Monday 9 p.m.: Chilling footage caught by the Shark Cam, which tracked Great White sharks living and hunting off the shores of Cape Cod, aka the setting for that little film called Jaws.

Voodoo Sharks, Monday 10 p.m.: Discovery Channel investigates the Bull Shark population that is now taking up residence in the bayous of Louisiana. Locals also tell a story about an even larger shark inhabiting the shallow swamps, which could be a brand-new species…or simply a ghost story.

Shark After Dark, 11 p.m. every night: An hour-long late-night live talk show hosted by comedian Josh Wolf. Wolf will lead viewers through an hour-long celebration of all things shark-related that will include celebrity guests, shark experts and shark attack survivors, among others. Wolf will also look back at some of the highlights from the past 26 years of Shark Week, and look ahead to give viewers a sneak peek at the next day’s Shark Week programs.
