History Channel's "The Bible" Miniseries that was released in March has been nominated for three Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Miniseries or Movie, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing.
The ten-hour dramatization of Bible stories attracted more than ten million viewers each of the five Sundays it was on cable.

Mark Burnett, who produced the series along with Roma Downey told The Hollywood Reporter, "What incredible news to wake up to, couldn't be happier."
"A lot of people said The Bible wouldn't do well on TV and wasn't expected to get nominated. Roma said from the beginning, 'I feel this is going to get nominated, I really feel that our academy will recognize the work.' Four years of work that went into making this as big as it was and we're grateful," he said.
The couple has agreed to produce a sequel to "The Bible" for NBC titled “A.D.: Beyond the Bible". It will trace the beginnings of Christianity after Jesus's death and resurrection.
They are also preparing a three-hour movie version of "The Bible" focusing on Jesus, titled "Son of God."
“There’s a big thirst for hope. Western civilization has 2 billion Christians,” Burnett told the Los Angeles Times. “This is the source of hope and belief and you get to start again.”
The Emmy Awards ceremony will air Sept. 22 on CBS.
