Pastor Morley Lee, former General Secretary for the Chinese Coordination Centre of World Evangelism (CCCOWE), mentioned at the eighth CCCOWE conference in Indonesia that despite his stepping down from the leadership position last September, he will continue to travel to different places to preach the Gospel. He has recently shared his expectations and encouragements towards the global Chinese churches at the LOGOS Evangelical Seminary in Los Angeles.
Lee, who has served the Lord Jesus Christ for nearly fifty years, recalls his five plus more years of ministry experience at CCCOWE as filled with thanksgiving and gratitude towards the Lord. He made use of the opportunities given him through service for CCCOWE to expand his spiritual vision, allowing him to see how God has blessed the worldwide Chinese people. He deeply believes that under the wonderful guidance of God the global Chinese churches will definitely complete the important task of world missions.
Lee gave an example of the rise of second-generation Chinese Christians in Spain and France to explain how the Lord has been gracious towards the Chinese churches around the world. He witnessed that the majority of these second-generation Chinese believers are fluent in both Chinese and the local language. They are the hopeful forces for missions in bringing the gospel to the French-speaking countries in Latin America and the Islamic African countries.
Although the Chinese churches have received abundant grace from God, there are still many areas of improvements that are needed in the proclamation of the gospel, said Lee. He said that the greatest weakness in the Chinese churches today is the lack of zeal for the spreading the gospel, particularly, the lack of cohesion in the joint efforts of missions.
Lee sincerely hopes that the global Chinese churches can break down barriers, lay down prejudices, and work together with one heart and mind to shoulder the great responsibility of prospering the gospel, responding to the almighty grace of God bestowed towards the Chinese churches and the Chinese people around the world.
“How I wish that there would be sweating Chinese Christians preaching the gospel in places where the sun reaches; how I wish that there would be Chinese Christians shedding tears in saving souls in places where there is the moon.” Lee hopes that this heart-felt exhortation can become an encouragement for spreading the gospel towards the Chinese churches in all places around the world.
