With the social world in a frenzy following the shocking verdict announced on Tuesday declaring Casey Anthony not guilty of first-degree murder, big name celebrities took to their twitters to voice their opinions.
Anthony, 25, was found not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of child. She was, however, found guilty of lying to law enforcement on four counts and will face sentencing on Thursday morning.
Despite the jury’s decision absolving Casey from life-imprisonment or the death penalty, the majority of the public still holds the young mother responsible for the 2-year-old’s death.
Holly Marie Combs @HDonoho expressed her anger through multiple tweets. “Outraged. Out. Raged... Hold up. They found her guilty of lying. Lying to covering up something that she didn’t do?”
Gabrielle Union @itsgabrielleu also said, “I’m curious how this child killer will be sentenced 4 lying... I literally feel ill.”
Other enraged tweeters included:
Carson Daly @carsonjdaly: “That jury better get into hiding.”
Rainn Wilson @RainnWilson: “Dear Florida, THANK YOU for freeing Casey! She’s not available for partying and babysitting!”
Mandy Moore @TheMandyMoore: “I’m from Orlando and have been hooked on the trial the last few weeks. the defense team was abysmal! this is shocking! poor, poor caylee.”
Joy Behar @ JoyVBehar: “I’m shocked by the #caseyanthonyverdict. Though I can’t say this is the first time Florida screwed up on an important vote.”

William Lang @WilliamLang: “OJ Simpson finds this verdict outrageous.”

Aubrey O’Day @AubreyODay: “Either the law is corrupt, or we give too much power to the people entrusted with interpreting & applying the law. Its a sad day 4 justice.”
Kim Kardashian @KimKardashian also tweeted “CASEY ANTHONY FOUND NOT GUILTY!!!! I am speechless!!!” to which @HaHaWhitePPL responded, “So was Nicole Brown Simpson’s family when your dad got OJ off.”
Kardashian’s father was the attorney who represented O.J. Simpson.
Megachurch pastor Rick Warren: Is there no greater barbarity than to hurt an infant? Its helplessness& innocence call forth compassion of even enemies"Adam Smith1759
and "Injustice is everywhere;justice seems far away.Truth is chased out of court;honesty is shoved aside" Isa.59:14 Today too!
And ywmvtheshow tweeted to Pastor Rick: “Rick, Mike Vick kills a dog & gets 2 yrs. Casey Anthony kills a child & gets not guilty! Racism?”
Though an overwhelming number of people could not find justice in the verdict, Chris Brauns, pastor of the Red Brick Church in Illinois tweeted a link to his blog, advising how Christians ought to respond to the verdict, offering some basic principles.
“Trust God for Justice – Romans 12:19 explicitly tells us that vengeance belongs to God,” he first wrote. “No one is getting away with anything ... God who sees all perfectly will deal justly in the timing that it pleases Him.”
Brauns also penned, “Be confident that God loves little girls infinitely and eternally more than any of us.”
Take no revenge, honor the court system, examine yourself, don’t trivialize forgiveness and misrepresent it by saying silly things like, "We all need to forgive Casey Anthony," were also among his points.
“Situations like this are the opportunity for Christians to point to a balanced view of forgiveness that stresses love, justice, and grace. Casey Anthony is not the only one who will stand before her Creator. We are all sinners, and we will all be there. If we don’t know Christ, then the wrath of God abides on us.”
