Chinese European Church leaders convened in Paris for a four-day conference that ended on Oct. 8.
Hosted by French Pastoral Fellowship, Chinese Christian Herald Crusade Ministry, Herald England and Europe Edition, CCCOWE Europe Committee and Chinese Christian Overseas Mission, the Ninth European Chinese Church Pastors, Leadership Conference gathered 256 church pastors, elders, deacons, ministry leaders from 13 European countries, according to CCCOWE.
With ‘Longing for Revival’ as this year’s conference theme, the organizing committee initiated a 40 days prayer fasting movement, which began on Aug. 26 and ended on Oct. 4, and the Holy Spirit performed its work throughout the gathering.
After the conference, Rev. Pak-Cheung Lo, secretary general of CCHC, shared with his ministry coworkers that the longed for revival can be seen in the aspect of registration. This year’s attendance rate exceeded the previous conference by four times. In addition, while the keynote speaker Rev. Felix Liu delivered the sermons each night of the event, the Lord used him greatly, Holy Spirit worked, many knelt down in tears, and it was so for many nights. He believes that the reason is because of the forty days of prayer fasting.
Besides Logos Evangelical Seminary President Rev. Felix Liu, other important speakers included Global Enrichment Theological Seminary President Rev. Wilfred Su, CCCOWE Secretary General Rev. Morley Lee, CCHC Secretary General Rev. Pak-Cheung Lo, and etc.
According to source, Rev. Liu proposed three challenging questions to the participants on the first night: first, is it possible to do what Jesus says; second, is it possible to not think, look, listen, say, and do whatever displeases God; third, Lord, is there anything that I insist that you cannot change. That night, all the participants knelt before the stage, cried out to God, repented of their sins, and once again dedicated their lives to God.
The next day, he continued to urge the pastors, church leaders to constantly check if your lives are truly together with the Lord. He pointed out that we need the Lord Jesus to completely intervene in our lives, setting our determination to learn to be like Jesus and allowing the life of Jesus to completely be manifested in our lives.
In the message delivered on the last night, Liu shared that prayer and service should have an important link and those who serve should have the attitude of “building services with prayers, without prayers then no holy ministry.” Quoting the former president of China Evangelical Seminary Rev. Timothy Lin, who recently passed away, he said the proper attitude of prayer is “Seeking nothing for one’s gain, but seeking everything for God.”
Before concluding, Liu referred to Rev. Jim Cymbala’s testimony of his daughter returning home in Fresh Wind Fresh Fire challenging every ministers to not easily forsake their flock. In the closing praise, many church elders and pastors embraced one another to reconcile, and even the church pastors and coworkers of two churches that divided shed tears and reconciled.
He reminded the pastoral coworkers that only with love will there be lambs: with love can you see the lambs, with love will you seek for the lambs, and with love will you find the lambs.
The next all European pastoral and church leadership conference is scheduled for Oct. 2012 in Barcelona, capital of Spain.
