On April 14, Hong Kong Christian Council member staffs, consisting of eleven people, visited the National China Christian Council/Three-Self Patriotic Movement of Protestant Churches (TSPM/CCC) headquarters in Shanghai.
HKCC Executive Director Rev. Po Kam-cheong and Chairperson Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Soo led the visit. National TSPM Presbyter Xian-wei Fu, TSPM Secretary General Xiao-Hong Xu, CCC General Secretary Pao-ping Quan, and Vice General Secretary Dan Wei-Xian and Presbyter Lin-Chong En greeted the visiting guests.
In their exchange that lasted for about an hour and a half, Presbyter Xian-wei Fu introduced the recent work activities of the National TSPM/CCC, such as social services, training, publishing, and etc. The guests raised some questions on the ministering to churches in the cities and in the villages, training of volunteers, and ways to minister to those from overseas living in mainland.
The National TSPM/CCC leader responded, “TSPM/CCC values deeply the work of training pastoral coworkers and emphasize on the importance of training both full-time and part-time ministers. As for the gatherings of those from overseas in mainland, we will do what we can to provide service.” Lastly, both parties exchanged gifts.
The Hong Kong Christian Council is the ecumenical body of Christian churches, organizations and institutions in Hong Kong. Founded in 1954, the Council promotes a united witness and outreach to the whole society. Its currently has 22 member churches and organizations and six committees on various affairs, including church unity and relations, social justice and concerns, missions and ministerial formation, etc.
