The memorial service for the Rev. Dr. James Hudson Taylor III, 1929-2009, great-grandson of the legendary British missionary to China, was held on the morning of April 4 at Kowloon City Baptist Church in Hong Kong.
An hour before the service begin, the service hall has already been filled with people. Thousands of local church ministers and believers, and those from mainland China, Taiwan, North America, and various overseas countries gathered to commemorate their deceased coworker in Christ.
While the service progressed, hymns, sermons, scripture-readings, and testimonies were presented. In their testimonies, Dr. Taylor’s colleagues and friends testified how he faithfully served the Lord and for the Chinese people. As the speakers reminisced of him, many shed tears as they are reminded of Dr. Taylor, who was their brother, father, mentor, co-worker, and friend in Christ.
While giving the family appreciation, Rev. Jamie H. Taylor IV said that if his father is giving the speech today he would give all the praise and glory back to God. Furthermore, he said that his father always reminded him that compared to what their family has done for the Chinese people, they have received much more from the Chinese people. He believes that his father would say the same thing here.
Following in the footsteps of his great-grandfather Hudson Taylor, Dr. Taylor has dedicated his life and family to China for the sake of Christ.
