HONG KONG- Over 50 Christian publishers showcased at Hong Kong Annual Book Exhibition, one of the most highlighted summer events kicked-off yesterday, reaching out to tens of thousand citizens who have not heard of the gospel.
Hong Kong Annual Book Exhibition is being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, a section of the exhibition hall was assigned to the Christian collection. With the theme "Reading, Life", the Christian collection aims to encourage the general public to read and enrich their lives. Also, in order to commemorate the 200th anniversary of China mission pioneered by Robert Morrison, "Beyond 200" was used as the slogan.
Representatives from 54 Christian publishers and organizations launched the Christian collection yesterday morning with a joint prayer service. Vice Executive Director of the Kingdom Ministries Rev. Wong explained the hope and vision of Chinese Christian publishers during his speech. He said that the mission of Robert Morrison has led to an important breakthrough in the publishing industry in China so that China could enter the era of modernization, therefore, Christian publishers today must get ready for challenges, reaching beyond believers to non-believers, popular culture, and to the world.
"May both believers and non-believers will be able to breakthrough, and see what is truly needed for their lives. May Christian books and publications can become the guide to their lives," executive director of the Chinese International Bible Mr. Sham blessed the exhibition when leading the prayer.
China Alliance Press President Mr. David Hui said, he wishes non-believers can come to learn more about Christian culture through the Christian collection at this popular annual book exhibition.
In the light of the upcoming huge Christian crusade that will be hosted by Franklin Graham Evangelistic Association in November in Hong Kong, Christian organizations have also taken the opportunity to promote it through the book exhibition. Public events of such kind are expected to be very effective in reaching out to non-believers.
Hong Kong Annual Book Exhibition will last for 7 days, the estimated total visitors is around 680,000.
