As of last Friday, February 9, the Campaign for Children and Families (CCF) concluded the six-day, fifteen-city tour to support marriage and to oppose a bill that would make recognition of homosexual union mandatory in all counties within California-state lines.
This year, CCF also protested against AB 19, a bill that would redefine marriage as a civil contract between 2 persons. This, sources say, is an attempt to do away with precedents set forty by Proposition 22 (Prop 22).
CCF President Randy Thomasson commented, “AB 19 utterly destroys the uniqueness of marriage, and rejects the vote of 61.4 percent of Californians who demanded that marriage stay between a man and a woman.” He added, “If it’s not a man and a woman, [then] it’s not marriage.” Prop 22, which was passed in 2000, defines marriage as being a civil contract strictly between one man and one woman.
The tour started in earnest on Valentine’s Day, last Monday at the State Capital in Sacramento and ended in San Diego last Friday. The tour, Randy Thomasson, also made stops in Sacramento, Oakland, San Jose, Salinas, Fresno, Bakersfield, Lancaster, Los Angeles, Santa Ana, Riverside, Escondido, and San Diego.
