New York City - As a major faith-based pro-family organization on the East Coast, the Support Traditional Marriage Of 1 Man & 1 Woman Association is organizing a course of lectures on April 16, Saturday, for Christians as well as the general public to learn more about sexual orientation. The main speaker invited to the event is clinical psychologist, Dr. Melvin Wong.
The course includes three lectures respectively titled "Is one born a homosexual," "How can one leave the life of homosexuality," and "How should individuals show concern for homosexuals."
Though the course is open to the general public, pastors and missionaries have been encouraged to attend, and the course will be free for them. According to Rev.Yun, the president of 1 Man & 1 Woman, the intention of the course is to reveal truth behind homosexuality through available scientific-research and biblically-based principles for the overall Christian community.
In the evening, 1 Man & 1 Woman will also host an open forum titled, "The General Knowledge On Gender And The Chinese Culture". The forum is open for public participation and discussion on sexual relationships couples share, giving the right sex-education for children, and the issue about healthy gender and homosexuality.
Dr. Melvin Wong, the main speaker, is a licensed clinical psychologist in Fremont and San Francisco. He has had experience in counseling gays and lesbians, as well as helping some of them regain a heterosexual life. He is currently a member of the professional staff at the Apokata Psychological Services, which is a member ministry of the Exodus International.
Exodus International is a ministry that extensively helped homosexuals recover a heterosexual lifestyle based on biblically-sound principles.
The April 16 course will be held at the New York Theological Education Center.
