This Monday, thousands of pro-life supporters including Christians from all over the United States gathered at Washington, D.C. for the 32nd annual "March for Life" rally and march.
The protestors sought to voice their opinions to the nation's congressmen and justices. President George W. Bush showed his support by adressing the crowd via telephone.
The rally in the morning with a cheerful greeting and message from three cardinals, a dozen bishops and some 300 priests. Then, the protestors proceeded to march peacefully marched along Constitution Avenue to the Supreme Court and Congress. The actual march reportedly continued rom 1p.m. and 4p.m.
During the march, police closed off access between Constitution Avenue, 17th Street Northwest, and 1st Street Northeast to make space for the thousands of protestors, says the Assosciated Press.
"The March for Life is a peaceful demonstration -- an annual reminder to all of Washington officialdom that it must overturn the Supreme Court's infamous Roe v. Wade decision which decriminalized the intentional killing of a preborn human. The Supreme Court cannot, and did not, legalize the killing of preborns. But Roe v. Wade did unleash on our beloved country the feminists/abortionists' evil agenda of 'choice' to kill preborn humans, and did begin the slippery slope to decriminalize infanticide, euthanasia, assisted suicide, fetal research, and more evil. History records our own lamentable experience with slavery and our seeing the Nazi slippery slope from so-called 1935 Nuremberg laws, through years of 'final solution' horrors, to reality of judgments at Nuremberg Trials," said Nellie Gray, President of the March for Life Fund.
The Archbishop of Washington Cardinal Theodore McCarrick was also available for comment saying that they're praying for life and a change of mind by those supporting abortion. He said the event proves that the "desire to have a pro-life nation is not fading out." The cardinal also said he was encouraged to see young people more actively involving themselves for this event.
The March for Life event has been held annually for the last 32 years since the controversial Roe v. Wade court ruling in 1973. The ruling, favoring legalized-abortion, has since then set off a long series of heated debate in America.
