Leesburg, Florida -- A new home for the Salvation Army in Leesburg is ready to dedicate on Feb. 22 at 2p.m. after long six months of construction.
“We doubled the size of the chapel, took the roof off and put in a new cathedral ceiling,” said Capt. Sandra Bagley. “We added a fellowship hall, a small commercial kitchen and four office spaces. We added a new handicap bathroom.”
Bagley said the renovations although it cost about $300,000, were necessary because the facility provides gathering center for the community.
“We had Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for awhile. We have father classes to help fathers become better parents,” she said. “We have a women’s group and Spanish ministries. We do social services. We just did not have the room for all of that.”
Bagley was grateful for the new space. “It was so small here, we could not do anything. We were really limited in what we could do,” Bagley said. “This is just a dream come true. The Lord has really blessed us with this.”
