Christian Teachers Pray Pledge Ban Will Be Overturned

PASADENA, Calif. -- Christian teachers are praying that the Supreme Court will overturn a federal court's ban on public school recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance. So says Forrest Turpen, who heads the Christian Educators Association International.

Turpen says member teachers will be "dejected and aggravated" by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals' refusal to reconsider its earlier ruling, which affects public schools in nine western states.

In the meantime, Turpen says patriotic students have the free-speech right to say the pledge on their own without school or teacher supervision.
