Published this week, the book ‘America, Return to God’ will renew the call for Christians in America to repent and return to God.
Featuring 28 highly selected articles by leading Christian figures, such as James Dobson, Ravi Zacharias, Jim Nelson Black, Francis Schaeffer, Carl F. H. Henry, Gary DeMar and David Barton, the 128-pages book is to be sent as gifts to 450,000 American leaders of all levels and of all professions.
The theme of the book is to re-emphasize that America was built by God as a Christian nation through Christian people, but now it is becoming not only non-Christian and even anti-Christian. Therefore, churches and individual Christians must be awaken and speak up to change the tide.
The book publication is just part of the "America, Return to God" (ARTG) Movement spearheaded by the Great Commission Center International (GCCI) of the leading Chinese evangelical Rev. Thomas Wang. For over 30 years, Wang has been waging a letter-writing campaign for spiritual renewal of America through his annual correspondences to leaders of this nation.
According to GCCI, over 800 individually signed letters have been sent out each year to the President, Vice-President, Cabinet members, Senators, Representatives, Supreme Court Justices, Governors of 51 States, Mayors of 50 largest cities as well as a number of educational and media leaders.
Since 1975, Wang has suggested to declare the National Day of Praise, Meditation and Prayer to many U.S. presidents for the purpose of thanksgiving, penance and supplication for the nation’s future. President Ford and President Clinton had both gave positive responses to GCCI.
In addition, Wang has called on the "Support Traditional Family Rallies." Following the declaration of prayer and Bible reading in public schools as unconstitutional, San Francisco has become the first state in the U.S. to marriage licenses to same-sex couples in 2004.
Three open-air rallies were held in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Flushing, New York by Chinese churches in protest against the sweeping trend of legalization of same-sex marriage across the country. "Marriage = 1 Man + 1 Woman" was the slogan being strongly defended throughout the campaign.
In Washington D.C. , a massive Marriage Rally was held on October 15, 2004. Wang gave an opening Prayer of the Rally in front of 100,000 Christians.
The publication of the book "America, Return to God" is expected to stimulate American churches to reflect upon the declining morality today.
"Because America has helped China for the last 200 years, when America faces this big crisis, Chinese should stand up and help them," said Wang, as recounting that thousands of American missionaries have risked their lives and come all the way to China for the sake of the Gospel.
A press conference would be held after the publication of the book, but the details are not confirmed.
