On November 5th, Vancouver Chinese Christian Missions (CCM) hosted an open house event and invited the local residents to join in its fifth anniversary celebration.
The event featured several short films and 17 different booths that introduced some of their different ministry functions, such as teen ministries, music fellowships, talent shows, cancer treatments, and other community services.
Since the organization established itself at Burnaby Crystal Mall five years ago, it has offered various services for children, teens, and elders in the local community.
For years, the Vancouver branch has placed their emphasis on Mandarin ministries. In 2001, Vancouver CCM started its first Mandarin-speaking ministry. In 2004, the service was expanded to help newly arriving immigrants from Mainland China and Taiwan.
CCM continues today to uphold its mission to "bring the church to the people, and the people back to the church."
Beyond providing welfare, medical care, entertainment, and family counseling, the ministry continues to assist many newly arriving immigrants by helping them adapt to their new cultural environment through various programs at CCM.
During the ceremony, they expressed their hopes to continue to serve the immigrant families and to expand similar projects in the local community and the churches.
